The Irish Porsche Open Racing Series is now in its sixth
season. It began with mostly pre-'74 911 models ranging from
the 2.2t to early 911 turbos, but in the last few seasons
several 993 and GT3 models have appeared, making the series
extremely competitive. There are four classes of cars
competing within the series. The parameters of the classes
are determined by power to weight ratio, for close racing
within each of the classes.
The 2008 series takes place on Irish and UK race circuits
over a total of 18 championship and non-championship rounds.
Most events feature double headers with 2 races and a
qualifying session. Two of the events this year are on UK
circuits - Oulton Park, and Anglesey, and one event at Spa. Home
rounds are held at Mondello Park and Kirkistown. In August
(like last year) we will be racing at the Phoenix Park. This
is a race with a difference - held on the roads through the
Phoenix Park, which is transformed in to a race track for
the weekend. Last year we were well supported by UK based
teams with GT3's, and this year's Park event is shaping up
to be even better again. See here for a complete
list of events.
